And the remaining 39% are scared to submerge their head under the water! So fear is the main obstacle, why people could not learn to swim properly. And especially if it comes to swimming in deep water, then the fear increases a few times more! However, let’s know some techniques on how to remove the fear and thus how to swim in deep water.

Why Do People Fear Deep Water?

The main question is, why do people fear deep water? Even many times I saw fear on many indoor swimming champions’ faces before their deep-water swimming. The main reason is one disease named Thalassaophobia. If this disease happens, patients fear facing the deep water’s surface usually. Another reason may be coming from childhood trauma like our parents often said don’t go nearby the water, a water jo jo will come to eat you ! Again some other category people are also there, who actually don’t know why they fear the deep water! Also, lack of experience is another crucial reason why people are often scared to swim in the deep sea.

How to remove the Fear of Deep Water?

Very easy solution! Spend at least a thousand hours conquering deep water. The more experience you earned to stay in the deep water, the more confidence level you will achieve. As deep water swimming is not a matter of one cup of tea, so you have to afford a bit to find how to tackle the water depth easily. The fact is, if you could remove your water depth fear, the remaining will automatically be under your control. Once you catch control of your head, body, the core muscles to float or swim on the water, automatically the buoyancy for deep water swimming will make you end the course.

At first practice indoors

To bit the high, at first you have to build you’re basically very strong and sturdy. Practice indoors offer you swimming in a controlled way. There are supposed to be all safety measures, the water is free of any open water debris, also you can reach the side ledges if you feel uneasy at any time. Comparatively Condo pools are great, they almost give you chest height depth. However, the condo pools or the hotel pools could be great options if you are there. these pools are unoccupied, a little bit deep, and offer you to swim without facing any mess. On the other hand, public pools do not let you swim easily.

Secondly, practice near the sea beach

It’s almost the same as indoor swimming. The only difference is, it is open water. So to remove your fear practice frequently near the beachside in an ocean. If you want to swim a little bit far from the beach, swim near the boat or other barge so that you can take a sudden break while you are getting down by your fear. Taking Deep breaths, focusing on a good starting point, overcoming fear, remaining calm in odd weather, learning a few advanced strokes, and gaining confidence-altogether need to practice well before starting swimming.

Train from a Swim Instructor

There is no alternative to taking instructions from a swimming coach. Your swimming instructor will teach you about all swimming styles, including freestyle as well. Under the superior’s supervision, you also can learn the diverse range of swimming both in shallow and deep water. Use proper Safety Gear

Use all safety gear before you jump down into the deep water. Though safety gear does not assist you in swimming faster, you will get mental satisfaction thinking that-oh, no problem, I have all my safety gear so I will not drown in the deep water. Also, don’t forget to wear a floatation belt.

Know your environment Where you will swim

All the swimming enthusiasts take a look at the whole surrounding before they start the race. It is mandatory, because if you know where you are going to swim, where you can take a breath, or if there is any emergency helping point or not- it can help a lot to set your mind. Try to swim in a straight line. Also do not forget about the sighting. It is a crucial technique to swim in open water. For the newbie we suggest swimming across the outer lane, also they could swim near a boat or an emergency stoppage so that they can catch in any emergency. The second instruction is to try to swim across the X-axis.

Practice needle diving

If you know how to swim across the X-axis, now let’s practice needle diving. However, you already know there are three types of diving, forward, backward, and reverse diving. Though practicing diving will never remove your deep water fear, it will make you capable, and strong to give a good start.
